VIP

VIP Program

The Mission of the AYSO VIP (Very Important Player) Program is to provide a quality soccer experience for individuals whose disabilities make it difficult for them to successfully participate on mainstream soccer teams. VIPs are paired with buddies on the field who help them to learn new skills, focus on the game and have fun. Accommodations are made to support all players on the field and can be a mixture of sensory supports, behavioral supports or adaptive equipment. VIP coaches and referees are flexible and positive.

Who plays?

Any individual with a mental or physical disability or neurological condition who wants to play soccer and whose disability make it difficult to enjoy playing on a mainstream team. Teams may be comprise of players who are:

  • Visually impaired

  • Hearing impaired

  • Intellectually disabled

  • Emotionally challenged

or who may have conditions such as:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder

  • Down Syndrome

  • Epilepsy

  • Cerebral Palsy

Registration

To register your child for VIP soccer, sign up on eayso.org and tick the box “I’m interested in the VIP program”. After registering, you will be sent a form to detail your child’s challenges and the accommodations needed to help on the field. It is important to fill these out in detail because volunteers and buddies study them so that they don’t embarrass the players by asking parents questions directly.

Buddies

If you want to volunteer to be a buddy or to help out in any other way, denafuss@comcast.net for directions on how to sign up.
