Safety
By Commissioner @ 6:25 AM :: 4366 Views

Casts, Splints, etc.:  A player wearing anything (splint, cast, etc) whose purpose is to immobilize the bone/joint during healing, is not allowed to practice or play.  Once the injury is detemined by a doctor to be healed, a protective brace can be used to protect a healed bone/joint.  This is both for the safety of the child and the others on the pitch.

Earrings: No earrings on the pitch.  If a child (and/or their parent) refuses to remove the player's earrings, they are not allowed to practice or play.

Slide Tackling: Slide tackling is not allowed at any division below the high school level. The only exception to this rule is at the U12 (5th/6th grades) and U14 (7th/8th grades) divisions when a player is ATTEMPTING TO KEEP THE BALL IN PLAY AT THE BOUNDARIES OF THE FIELD AND CANNOT DO SO WITHOUT A SLIDE TACKLE. THIS EXCEPTION IS ALLOWED ONLY WHEN THERE ARE NO OTHER PLAYERS IN THE AREA.  Use a 10 yard rule when determining a safe distance from other players.

NO SLIDE TACKLING IS ALLOWED AT THE U6 (K) THROUGH U10 (3RD/4TH GRADES) DIVISIONS.

If a child does perform a slide tackle outside the exception listed above, play is stopped and an indirect free kick is called due to "dangerous play". The child needs to be told to stay on their feet to play the ball. If the child persistently slide tackles, ask the coach to have the child sit out the remainder of that quarter and all of the next quarter.

Thank You for a wonderful fall.  Enjoy the Holidays and we'll see you on the pitch in April, 2012.

U6, U7, U8, & U10 Teams without appropriately trained and certified coaches and referees (no refs at U6) will be disbanded prior to the spring half of the season.
